Gamblers Anonymous has many literature sources which explore the 12 Steps of Recovery in greater detail than the listing of the steps shown in the Combo Book. These sources are often used in step work, at both the individual and group level.

However, when it comes to the Unity Program, there isn’t nearly as much examination of the Unity Steps. Beyond short chapters in the Blue Book and Red Book, there isn’t any GA-approved literature which explores the meaning of the Unity Steps on a deeper level.

The Gamblers Anonymous Group Study Book On The Unity Steps is currently limited to twelve pages of questions related to each Unity Step; the introduction suggests that beyond the Blue Book and Red Book, no other material is needed.

Permission is requested to form a committee which would revise this workbook, to include a detailed examination of each Unity Step which could be used alongside the questions offered as discussion points, similar to how Working The Steps provides detailed information about the Recovery Steps before presenting discussion points and questions.

It is my opinion that the Unity Program is just as important to the health of the Gamblers Anonymous fellowship, as the Recovery Program is to the health of the individual, and that we as an organization should foster a greater awareness and appreciation for the meanings behind the words on pages 6 and 7 of the Combo Book.
