International Board of Trustees Agenda Information

This site is the official site of the Board of Trustees of Gamblers Anonymous. It is a stand alone site, and a tool that is meant to aid in the dissemination of the ongoing formation of the Trustee Meeting's agenda for the upcoming international conference in Houston, Texas, April 24, 2014, in addition to other functions that are ultimately approved for use by the Board of Trustees.

This website allows for the display of items in advance of the 60-day deadline, which for this conference is February 23, 2014. As per the Guidance Code of Gamblers Anonymous, Article 8, Section 17, only current and past Trustees can submit an item for any agenda. It is the hope that by being able to view these items before the agenda deadline others will offer their opinions about each item and exchange ideas with the Trustee who submitted that item. This platform was designed to allow for changes to be made by the author of the agenda item, which could lead to an improved version of the original item, or the ability to withdraw that item altogether. It is also meant to prevent the redundancy of items by other Trustees who would heretofore not know what items had already been submitted, but only those items visible after the agenda was printed and sent out.

The objective of this process is to improve the quality of the agenda with items that have been reviewed by others, somewhat like a pre-committee submission. Generally speaking, the vast majority of agenda items have failed during each Trustee meeting. The ability to submit an item, have it reviewed by other members, modified after discussions with other Trustees and resubmitted, may improve the prospects of having the items approved by the body. This site is not meant to determine the potential success or failure of any item when it is brought before the Board of Trustees. It merely provides for an open exchange of ideas between Trustees and other GA members.

If you wish to submit an agenda item, please make sure you have the following information:

  • Name of Trustee
  • Area
  • Confirmation of Current Trustee Status
  • Email address for confirmation
  • Author's name and if he/she wishes to present the issue to the board personally
  • Your expectations as to a discussion, committee formation and/or motion
  • The agenda item
  • Reference specifically in where you wish your item to be placed in GA literature, if applicable
    • List the change you wish to make
    • List the current version
    • List the proposed version
  • Any files you wish to attach to the item, preferably in PDF, JPEG or PNG form. These files will be added to the agenda. See notice just below.

ALL ATTACHMENTS MUST ALSO BE SENT TO THE TRUSTEE WEBSITE ADMIN DIRECTLY IN THEIR ORIGINAL FORM VIA A MICROSOFT WORD OR EXCEL DOCUMENT TO BE INCLUDED IN THE MINUTES OF THE TRUSTEE MEETING.
